It’s the Unofficial Start of Summer! Memorial Day, Graduations, and Lemonade Days!
BY DEBBIE NAZARIAN, LEMONADE DAY NATIONAL DIRECTOR
It’s already the end of May and many of us are getting ready for the Memorial Day three-day weekend, graduations, and of course, lots of lemonade stands run by our young entrepreneurs! Although it’s a time where many people are planning vacations and summer activities, it is still a busy time for Lemonade Day as many of our cities are putting the final touches on their Lemonade Day festivities over the summer. There is still plenty of time to get your kids involved. Visit www.lemonadeday.org/find-your-city to learn more.
Remembering our Fallen Heroes
Memorial Day in the United States is held the last Monday of May and is a time to memorialize the veterans who lost their lives in service to our country. At Lemonade Day, we reflect on their service that has provided the freedom we enjoy today. It’s also a wonderful opportunity to support veteran organizations or grieving loved ones. Attend a parade or memorial service. Purchase a poppy from a veteran and thank that soldier for serving our country. And while you are enjoying gatherings with friends, family and fireworks, remember our military in your thoughts.
Celebrating the Achievements of Graduates
Graduation is a great time to celebrate a student’s accomplishments while recognizing the new journey that lies ahead. Throughout the student’s years of education, it took a village to teach, coach and mentor them to graduation day.
I wanted to share some inspirational quotes for graduating seniors:
- “An investment in knowledge always pays the best interest.” – Benjamin Franklin
- “The beautiful thing about leaning is that not one can take it away from you.” – B.B. King
- “Education is our passport to the future, for tomorrow belongs to the people who prepare for it today.” – Malcolm X
At Lemonade Day, we know our program plants the seeds that change lives by building self-esteem and new mindsets that can propel youth to success they likely would not have pursued otherwise. Lemonade Day wants to send our sincere congratulations to all our former participants who are crossing the stage this year and send our very best wishes for their future. We know that there are more great opportunities in front of you.
What Fuse Lights Your Fireworks?
There are plenty of ways to ignite a spark in youth entrepreneurs. We are so proud of our participants and all that they accomplish as business owners. We encourage everyone to find something that lights the fuse to success.
Registrations are open at Lemonade Day cities across North America. Visit https://www.lemonadeday.org/find-your-city for more information.
Thanks for reading. Please feel free to share this blog and my contact information, debbie@lemonadeday.org, with anyone who would like to know how to help more children experience the opportunity of owning their own business – a lemonade stand.
